Quests

Quest Overview

Short Cut:

Here's a quick guide that will give you an idea of how things work:

What is a Quest?

It's a game goal. You'll get some instructions and then you'll go play poker to reach the goals. If you complete the Quest, you'll get experience points. This is one of the main ways to advance your character and level up. Quests are MMO game inspired features. An example of an MMO game Quest is to kill 10 trolls for 100 experience points. An example of a Poker Quest is to get 4 Ace-high Flushes for 100 experience points.

NOTE: You are not required to play Quests to advance your character. Nor are you required to play all Quests. You can choose which you like. You can play all of them, some or none of them. If you want to just play some cards for a while, no problem. The Quests are designed to be attractive to all players, regardless of the skill level.

Quest Categories

There are Quests for all types of players. If you are a new player or experienced, here to just have some fun or improve your game, there are Quests for you. Currently we have four categories:

Difficulty

Quests can be easy or difficult depending on the amount of skill or time required.

Quest Ladders

Most Quests are in chains. If you finish the first Quest, the next one is unlocked. For example, if you finish "Get Dirty" it unlocks "Poker Bug" and so on.

Solo Versus Shareable Quests

There are Solo Quests and Shareable Quests. Solo Quests players can only complete on their own as single-player and Shareable Quests allow players to work together. You can complete Shareable Quests on your own too.

Shareable Quest Rules

Social Points

Social Points are given in addition to experience points, if you Share a Quest that is finished.

Quest Member Limits

Each Shareable Quest can have 10 members in the group max.

Quests Can Be Shared With Different Players

Each Shareable Quest is distinct, meaning it can be shared with different players. For example, Bill might have a Flush Quest he shares with Tom and Jim. Bill might have a Straight Quest he shares with other players, say Ted and Tom. Each of these Quests has its own shared members.

Collective Credit

The advantage of sharing Quests, is that players can work as a group to achieve a common goal and all share in the rewards. Having more active players working towards the goal will make it easier to reach.

For scoring, players get credit collectively from the shared members, but not retroactively.

For example, consider a Get 10 Flushes Quest. Joe is invited to share the Quest from a group that has already started this Quest. Joe doesn't get credit for what the other members have already got. Joe does get credit for Flushes the group gets in the future (provided his Quest is active and he continues to Share Quest).

Do I have to be online to get credit?

Players receive credit from Shared Quest Members play if they are offline or online. For example, Joe may not play on Monday, but Tom did and got two flushes. Since they are Sharing the Flush Quest, Joe gets credit for these too.

To receive credit for Shared Quests, the Quest must be in active state (versus deactivated), the player must still be sharing the Quest (versus leaving) and it must be still in the player's Added Quests (versus him canceling and deleting it).

Quest Goals Are Individual

For the Quest to be completed, while the Shared Members help with scoring, each player must individually reach the Quest goal. For example, Joe must get 10 Flushes total to win. This means that sometimes some Quest Members in Shared Quests will complete a Quest before other members, since they can invite each other to join Quests at various times (i.e. I invite you to join Flush Quest when you already have started it and have 4 Flushes).

Experience Points In Shared Quests

Experience Points and Social Points are awarded for each Shared Quest. Players don't split up the points, meaning each player gets the same amount. For example, if the Quest awards 1000 points, each player gets that, versus splitting it up.

This is a big point to remember since it means working together on Shareable Quests only helps you.

Replay Completed Quests?

Players who have completed Quests can replay them provided they are invited to Share a Quest in which at least one of the group hasn't completed the Quest yet. For example, I can ask a friend who has already won the Flush Quest part that I'm working on to help out and it would open it up again for him.

The player replaying old Quests will get points again.

Invited/Active/Added/Available/Completed

The following is pretty straightforward. The only thing that might be confusing is the difference between and Added Quest and an Active Quest. Added basically means it is storing it still for you, but you won't get credit if you do something while playing. You get 40 Quests and then 10 you can make Active at a time.

Invited Quests

Ones that other players have asked you to Share with them. Click on Invited Quests. Notice how you have settings to block players from inviting you, if need be.

Active Quests

Those that when you play, you get credit for. You can have 10 Quests Active at a time. You'll know when you get credit for progress or completing a Quest. You'll get a Game Log message in your Dashboard and if you are playing at a poker table, the message will show one the screen.

Added Quests

You can have 40 Added Quests at a time. An Added Quest isn't Active. Having Active and Added Quests allows you to switch between ones you want to work on without losing your progress. For example, you might be half way done with some tough Quests, but then new ones are added you want to play. You can just switch some to Active or Added (pretty much means inactive).

Available Quests

These are Quests you can add. As you progress and complete Quests, others are unlocked.

Completed

These are the ones you've finished.

Quest Progress/Completion: Where do I see feedback?

Screen Progress

Feedback types:

Completed Quest

You'll see this in three places:

Note: Some progress isn't sent to your screen. Just the significant progress events are (i.e. if you have to play 200 hands, it won't bug you sending you "3/200 Hands Played" every time, but when you finish that goal, it will tell you.)

Voting

Quest Voting

You get to vote two times, once before you play the Quest and once after. Voting lets me know which Quests you like, so I'll add more. The initial 300 Quests are just a test to see what you guys prefer. For example, Strategy ones might be the most liked or maybe ones with humor and story lines will be. This is the way you'll let me know.
